The Nerazzurri are sitting level on points with the Bianconeri at the top of the table, but it’s not something Marotta would've expected a few years ago, given that he was at rivals Juventus.
“I wouldn’t have imagined being first with Inter two years ago. I would have liked to set my career up differently, but that is the beauty of football,” Marotta told Radio Rai.
Marotta was quizzed on transfer target Arturo Vidal, and Marotta says the possible deal hinges on a change of coach.
“Vidal depends on many factors, he is an important player for us. The position of the Barcelona coach is at risk, if they change, I don’t know what could happen.”
Inter are currently on 45 points in Serie A, joint-top with Juve, and this is their best chance to win the Scudetto since 2010.
“Juve has the means and quality to finish in front of Inter. However we can win the Scudetto if Juve lose it,” said the former Sampdoria director of sport.
