Juventus director Beppe Marotta insists Paulo Dybala’s poor form is in reality “excessive media pressure on someone who can’t always be extraordinary.”

The Bianconeri take on Genoa in tonight’s Coppa Italia Round of 16 tie and Dybala starts after he was dropped for the last two Serie A games.

“It’s a perfectly normal moment for a young player who emerged suddenly, so we just need the patience to wait for him,” Marotta told Rai Sport.

“After all, people expect a great deal of him, but he’s a youngster who is under excessive media pressure, so it’s natural he can’t always put in extraordinary performances.

“When his performances are simply good, he is criticised, so people almost always view him negatively. All we need is patience.”
