Genoa are struggling to avoid being sucked into the relegation race, but Pasquale Marino insists they can end the season on a high when facing Roma on Monday.

“The team is in good shape and is really eager to fight for the points,” said the Coach ahead of tomorrow night’s trip to the Olimpico.

“We can do well against Roma as long as we put in a good performance. The lads have the right spirit and I am confident.

“We’ve got to secure safety as soon as possible, of course, but I think after that we will have a strong end to the season.

“Roma are a side with many important values and play entertaining football. Fabio Borini is the main danger man, but not the only one, as they are a very organised team.

“The Giallorossi make possession their strength and that is something we really need to work on, as we’re not passing as well as I’d hope. We can and must do better.”

Kevin Constant and Juraj Kucka are both out for a month, while Luca Antonelli, Cesare Bovo, Giuseppe Sculli and Andreas Granqvist also miss out.

“There’s not much we can do, as we’re just unlucky at the moment,” added Marino. “Just look at Constant, who injured himself while slipping on the turf. You can’t really prepare for that.”
