Polish referee Szymon Marciniak has been assigned to the Champions League encounter between Inter and Barcelona.

It kicks off at San Siro on Tuesday at 20.00 GMT and follows on from the 2-0 loss at Camp Nou.

Marciniak most recently officiated the European Super Cup Final which saw Atletico Madrid beat Real Madrid 4-2 in extra time.

He was in charge in the Champions League group stage in September when Napoli drew 0-0 away to Red Star Belgrade.

Marciniak oversaw England’s surprise 3-2 Nations League victory away to Spain on October 15.

His record with Italian sides at club and international level is of eight wins, three draws and six defeats.

The only previous Inter match was a 3-1 Europa League defeat away to Wolfsburg in March 2015.

When it comes to Spanish teams, Marciniak has overseen seven wins, five draws and five defeats.

Curiously, Barcelona have very bad memories of their only two previous matches under Marciniak.

They were both in the Champions League in 2017, a 4-0 defeat at Paris Saint-Germain and 3-0 loss at Juventus.
