Catania are now mathematically safe and in the race for Europe against Parma this afternoon, so Rolando Maran acknowledges “we are doing something great.”

The Elefantini had uncertainty at the start of the season when Vincenzo Montella left and Maran came in for his Serie A debut campaign, but they find themselves flying high in seventh place.

“It is something to be very proud of that we no longer have to talk about safety in February,” said the Coach.

“We are doing something great and we know it. Now we must target other objectives, but always remaining humble.

“I didn’t expect to secure our safety so early, but of course I hoped we would stay in Serie A. During the course of the campaign, as time wore on, we realised that we could do well.”

This afternoon’s game with Parma is in doubt, as there has been heavy snowfall on the Stadio Tardini. Click here for a match preview.

“We are facing a well-organised Parma side that plays good football. We must do well to interpret a game in which they will put us under pressure.”
