Genoa coach Rolando Maran has praised Milan coach Stefano Pioli ahead of their Serie A match on Wednesday. ‘It’s down to his and the club’s good work’.

Milan are first in Serie A, whilst Maran’s Genoa struggle at the other end, second to bottom after 11 rounds of fixtures.

Against the high-flying Rossoneri, Maran wants ‘compactness and consistency’ from the Grifoni.

“I ask to see the same compactness combined with that moment where we conceded the goal and found the courage to go straight for the equaliser,” he told Genoa Channel.

“I ask for this. That there are two things united to bring something more than what we did in the last two games, where we demonstrated consistency.”

Maran said League leaders Milan have been rewarded for their faith in coach Stefano Pioli.

“[Milan’s success] is down to the good work of Pioli and the club, after two transfer sessions where they could improve and carry out a project,” he said.

“They were able to wait after a difficult departure and instead it turned out to be a winning card. The work of all together, the great sale and having had the opportunity to improve the staff has led to these great results.

“Also combined with the great skills of Pioli.”
