Diego Maradona is reportedly in line to make his return to the pitch, to help apparently help a friend at an Argentine fifth division club.

The 53-year-old ended a 22-year playing career in 1998, but Argentine outlet Ole is asserting that a request from Primera D side Deportivo Riestra has been put in to the Argentine Football Association to register him as a player.

Maradona, who was recently back in Italy and is looking to resolve an outstanding tax debt in the peninsula, joined Riestra’s coaching staff back in August as a ‘spiritual Coach’.
