Andrea Mantovani is likely to leave Palermo in January after failing to win a regular spot in the first team.

The defender joined the club in the summer at the specific request of boss Stefano Pioli who bossed him at Chievo last term.

However, Pioli was sacked on the eve of the season and new boss Devis Mangia seems to have other defensive ideas.

“We’ll have to find a solution for him as soon as possible when you consider his value as a player,” agent Graziano Battistini told Itasportpress.

“I’ve already made contact with various interested clubs and I think we could easily see him join a new team in January.”

Mantovani, 27, is contracted to the Stadio Barbera outfit until June 2015. He’s made just two Serie A appearances so far this term.
