Andrea Mantovani's agent has looked to play down reports of his unhappiness at Palermo, insisting he is intent on earning a first-team slot.

The 27-year-old versatile defender has found himself out of the first team and only has one appearance in a Palermo shirt to his name so far this season.

A few days ago the player came out to confirm his willingness to fight for first-team involvement under Devis Mangia, but reports have still linked the player with a January switch to Bologna.

His representative Graziano Battistini has now come out to reiterate to Itasportpress.it of the player's desire to remain professional and try to win Mangia's favour in training.

"Andrea is quiet because he is a professional and conscientious of his actions. He has found that a chain of negative events have blocked his path to playing regularly.

"These things happen in football and therefore we are aware that the only thing to do is to continue to work with professionalism and respect for his teammates and the club."

Federico Balzaretti is suspended for the Rosanero's next game, Saturday's trip to Milan, with speculation that Mantovani will come into the team in his place.

"Against Milan he has the opportunity to play if the Coach deems it appropriate. It could be the right opportunity to show his worth.

"The rumours about Bologna? It is still too early to talk about that. He is happy at Palermo and has embraced their project.

"At the end of December we will see what has happened, what prospects there are and if necessary we will have a meeting."
