Roma are having trouble renewing Kostas Manolas' contract as Chelsea and Arsenal swoop in.

Even as the deals for Real Madrid's Nacho and Inter's Juan Jesus look to be virtually complete, the Giallorossi have a new problem to be sorted out in their central defence.

According to both Il Tempo and La Gazzetta dello Sport, Manolas is reluctant to sign his contract renewal. Roma are offering €2m per season plus bonuses, but the Greek's agent is looking to negotiate a better deal.

The club from the capital will not sell Manolas this year, because under their current contract terms they'd have to give 50 per cent of the sale money to the player's former club Olympiacos.

This, along with the offers that reportedly came in from both Arsenal and Chelsea, gives Manolas leverage to negotiate this year.

Roma still have some time to sit on the decision as the player's current contract only expires in 2019.
