The striker is not part of Coach Maurizio Sarri’s plans for this season and has been left out of the Champions League squad list.

He has also not featured yet in Serie A, despite negotiations for a transfer to Qatar collapsing.

It’s widely reported already in Italy that Mandzukic turned down offers from MLS clubs because he has his heart set on remaining in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

Manchester United never replaced Inter-bound Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, so are in dire need of a striker with Mandzukic’s characteristics and experience.

According to the Sunday Express, the Croatian already has a verbal agreement with Manchester United, but Juventus are holding out for €10m in the January transfer window.

This is a discount from the €15m they were commanding over the summer, but still a lot considering Mandzukic has not played at all this season.
