Mario Mandzukic reveals ‘from an early age I had a soft spot for Juventus’, after moving from Atletico Madrid.

The Croatian international’s transfer to the Bianconeri was officially confirmed this afternoon, and the striker says he’s always had a connection with the famous stripes.

“From an early age I had a soft spot for Juventus,” Mandzukic told the club’s official website.

“I played for a club, Marsonia, whose shirts were the same colour. So even then I liked them [Juventus].

“I started my career with Marsonia, in the same colour shirt as Juventus. We even wore what were originally Juventus shirts, but with the Marsonia badge.

“So I’m very happy to be back in bianconero, and I’m happy to be at a big club like Juventus.

“I know and can see that this is a great club, and there are a lot of Juventus fans. So I’m very happy to have this new challenge, and I’m ready.

“We have a great team, a great Coach [Max Allegri] and I want to help.”

The former Bayern Munich man was also confident that he’d have no problem adapting to life in Serie A.

“I hope and believe that the Coach knows me well and knows how to get the best out of me. I’m ready to do what I have to for my teammates.

“I’ll do my best, and I think the Coach knows me pretty well and has a good understanding of my game, and that will bring out the best in me.

“I know the players well enough. I’ve played against them several times, so I don’t think that will be a problem.

“It’s always difficult to play against Juventus, they have outstanding players. I’ve played against Juventus and Italy many times.

“I know them very well, they’re tough teams, with quality, so I’m even happier to be part of this group. It’s not possible to say anything but the best things about the team and the Coach.

“As for on the pitch, I’ve already told you, I’ll give my all. This is a new team, and I’ll fight with all my strength.

“I hope to score as many goals as possible, but the most important thing is the success of Juventus, and winning.”
