Rolando Mandragora believes Giorgio Chiellini “could be called-up again” by Italy CT Roberto Mancini.

The centre-back announced his retirement from international football after Italy lost the World Cup play-off to Sweden, and hasn’t played since, but unlike Gigi Buffon his fellow Juventus player believes Chiello could return.

“Buffon is definitely a symbol of Italy as well as a great athlete,” Mandragora, who made his Azzurri debut in the friendly against France, told IlBianconero.

“If he’s made this choice he’ll have thought about everything. Chiellini though, I think yes, he could be called-up again.

“He’s a strong defender and if he’s healthy he can give security and experience to the backline. Then the CT will make his assessments and speak to him.”
