Verona Coach Andrea Mandorlini feels a 1-1 draw with Lazio was positive after a run of two straight defeats.

Senad Lulic had opened the scoring and Luca Toni converted a penalty to equalise, but Verona could not add to their tally despite Pedro Luis Cavanda’s dismissal.

“In my heart of hearts I hoped for more, but we lost two players at half-time and had to make changes,” Mandorlini told Sky Sport Italia.

“Lazio are a great team and we gave them a goal with an error, something we are doing a bit too often now.”

Hellas were beaten 3-1 by Milan and lost a 6-2 thriller at Napoli on Sunday, while opponents Lazio had won four on the bounce.

“Coming off two consecutive defeats we were a little hasty and lacking in confidence, but we did well to get the game back on track.

“Individual errors can happen and there’s little you can do to prevent them in training, because they are largely unpredictable.

“Tachtsidis had a dislocated shoulder and went back on to the pitch. I am happy with the performance and the result, as despite everything over the last few rounds we have always been in the game.

“I think we’re on track, although after last season people have bigger expectations for us.”
