Hellas had already lost 6-1 in Turin on Thursday evening in the Coppa Italia, so shipped 10 goals in 72 hours.

“My rapport with the club is perfect, that’s not an issue,” he told Sky Sport Italia after a lengthy stay in the locker room.

“Clearly it hurts to concede 10 goals in two games. I think we need to recharge our batteries above all in psychological terms. We’ve already got the Atalanta match in our minds now.

“Is that game decisive for my future? You ask unintelligent questions. I have a great rapport with the club, there is no issue. For us as for other sides a new season begins next week with the second half of the campaign.

“Unfortunately we expected a different game and after three minutes it had gone downhill. At the moment Juventus are like an insurmountable obstacle for us. We had hoped to do better in these two games, but perhaps they showed up some of our limitations.

“Going 2-0 down after seven minutes completely changes all your plans and is a tough blow on a psychological level.

“Everything cannot have changed in the space of a week. Against a different opponent we might’ve done better, but at the moment Juve are too much for us.”
