Verona Coach Andrea Mandorlini regretted “a huge mistake” that cost their defeat to Milan and wished Jorginho all the best.

Hellas were beaten 1-0 at San Siro by a late Mario Balotelli penalty after an unnecessary Alejandro Gonzalez tackle on Kaka.

“We made a huge mistake, as the game was heading towards a draw at that stage,” Mandorlini told Sky Sport Italia.

“That’s how it went, these things happen in football. The referee made the right decision, as it was a clear penalty.

“In the second half we came out of our shell and created four or five great chances, but got the final pass wrong. It was a good performance apart from the opening 15 minutes, as we knew where Milan wanted to move the ball.”

Verona were weakened, as Luca Toni was out with a flu virus and on Saturday Jorginho was sold to Napoli.

“I had been working with Jorginho for a long time, so we were both so moved when saying goodbye that neither of us could say much at all. I sent him a message telling him he was in a big club now and it was up to him to stay there. Napoli are a great opportunity and I wish him all the best for the future.”
