Inter Coach Roberto Mancini believes that President Erick Thohir wants to build a great team, fuelling rumours about Yaya Toure’s arrival.

Mancini worked with the Manchester City midfielder during his time at the Blues, but admitted he wouldn’t know what to do with the Ivorian at the moment.

The Inter boss was speaking at his pre-match Press conference ahead of tomorrow night’s Serie A clash with Roma.

“I don’t know where I would play him, it’s hard to say at the moment. I don’t know if he’ll be at my disposition, but he can play anywhere,” said Mancini.

“I believe the President wants to create a great team so I don’t think there will be problems. Sometimes negotiations go well and sometimes they don’t, but Thohir wants to make a great team.

“I think that, given Toure has played all around the world, he has never played in Italy and it could be great for him.”

The Nerazzurri face an off the boil Roma side at San Siro tomorrow, but the Coach admitted any hopes of European qualification were a long shot.

“We need to win to keep hold of our slim hopes of Europe and give continuity from our last performance.

“It doesn’t just depend on us, we can win but there are still a lot of teams in front of us. While there are points available the hope is always there and in two or three matches’ time we will evaluate our position.“We just need to think about winning tomorrow, this is an important week as we have three matches in seven days.”

Mancio also responded to questions about the underperforming Xherdan Shaqiri, who has been dropped from the starting lineup in recent weeks.

“We bought Shaqiri in January because he will have a great future with Inter, but then his condition started to get worse.

“He has our full trust, it’s normal to have a dip as nobody arrives at a new club and wins games by themselves. While he’s having this dip in form, there are other players to step in.

“Now he’s recovered and there’s no problem. If I had played him, Hernanes would’ve been on the bench, but at the moment he deserves to play. It’s just a tactical choice.”
