Financial Fair Play restrictions mean the Nerazzurri will probably have to sell before they can bring anyone in this summer.

It has been reported in recent days that the Reds have already struck a deal with Kovacic, after a meeting with Beneamata director Piero Ausilio.

“He’ll become a champion,” Mancini predicted, when asked about the Croatian playmaker on Sky.

“Of course, he’s still lacking some things, but he’s improved a lot, and I think that’s showed.

“At the moment there’s nothing, I think he’ll stay.

“I don’t think we’ll sell our top players, I don’t think that’s a risk.”

The former Manchester City manager also addressed Inter’s transfer strategy, and denied that he’d asked for eight or nine new players.

“Ivan Perisic? He’s liked by a lot of other teams, and in fact Wolfsburg don’t need to sell him. The eight or nine players thing was a joke.

“Next year, Inter will not be that different, it depends on the market, which won’t be easy. We’ll have to be good and lucky to find the right players.

“We’ve already signed [Jeison] Murillo for the defence, and he’ll definitely strengthen us, it’s too early to say now what will happen on the market.

“For the midfield, we’ll see how things turn out.

“We want to fight for the Scudetto with our current squad, with the improvements we’ve made and a pre-season behind us, we have a chance of doing that.”
