Roberto Mancini’s son slams Erick Thohir and the Suning Group – “they treat Inter like a toy”.

Mancio left the Nerazzurri by mutual consent yesterday, after a summer of disagreements with the club hierachy.

“Dad has always been good at Inter, he loves the team, if he didn’t he wouldn’t have gone back,” Filippo Mancini explained to FcInter1908.

“He was used to a different kind of football, with different Presidents, who really held on to their club without ulterior motives.

“With the arrival of Thohir and then the Chinese, things have changed. These people are more accustomed to doing business than dealing with football and I have the feeling that they didn’t understand Inter, a club that – until recently – had a power in the world that was second to none.

“Behind this club there’s the hand of Kia [Joorabchian] and other advisors and that can’t be for the good of Inter.

“Staying there was really bad for dad, he didn’t have a point of contact, someone who could really tell him what was going on.

“At the moment the Nerazzurri are not a strong club, a team which they [the owners] live day and night. It’s not a priority for them, it’s like a toy to play with.

“I’ve read a lot of comments from fans about the players who arrived at Inter during my father’s second spell.

“First of all, I’d say that a lot of these players like [Marcelo] Brozovic, [Ivan] Perisic, Miranda and [Jeison] Murillo have hugely raised the level of the team.

“But it should also be pointed out that some of the players the club signed were the third or even fourth choice of my father, and maybe people don’t know that.

“That was the case last year too, it’s not true that all the players signed were wanted by Mancini.

“Yaya Toure? [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic went to [Manchester] United this year and is earning good money, and he’s two years older than Yaya.

“We’re talking about a midfielder who could have easily made the difference in Italy for another three years, he’d have added value on the pitch and in the dressing room.

“Obviously if he wanted a player it was for the good of the club, not to play five-a-side.

“Dad wasn’t happy with them and they weren’t happy with dad. He saw them [the Suning Group] at most a handful of times, they bought Inter and then disappeared.

“These people must understand that you need heart and soul to guide a club like Inter, you can’t delegate to other people.

“I’m sorry for the way it ended with my father, he was practically the only one to put his face out there for the fans, and it’s unthinkable to offer him a contract renewal while sidelining him from the transfer market.

“It’s him who is with the team during the week and who sits on the bench on a Sunday. He should have the power, because it’s him who has to face the insults and the tomatoes if things go wrong.

“His future? He’s one of the best in the world, I don’t think he’ll be able to be out of things for a year.”
