Inter Coach Roberto Mancini is not giving up on Yaya Toure – ‘the world is full of top players, we want to get them’.

The Nerazzurri have been heavily linked with the Ivorian midfielder, with Mancini personally urging the club to sign him.

“At Inter, the players we buy must be well-chosen,” Mancini considered in an interview with Tuttosport.

“We can’t afford to make mistakes. It’s clear that having players who enhance the personality of the team would help.

“Thiago Motta? He made history [in his first spell] with Inter, and clearly has experience which would be useful.

“Have I gone quiet on Toure? It’s not a case of being quiet, the world is full of top players, and we want to get them.

“This is the time that Inter must return to playing in the Champions League, not being there is like seeing Bologna in Serie B, it’s something which makes no sense.

“To do that, we must all do our best to bring Inter back to where it historically belongs.

“By the way, that’s the first thing on [President Erick] Thohir’s mind.”

When Mancini returned to the club, he was targeting the Champions League, but the former Manchester City manager says the season can still be saved.

“We started out trying to get third, we’re in the second half of the season, and a campaign which would be a five-and-a-half [out of 10] can get a six if we manage to finish sixth [for the Europa League].

“We could easily have eight or nine more points which we threw away. We gave away goals for stupid things which you don’t even see in the youth leagues.

“We can’t compare with the teams of the past, Inter isn’t that anymore. We have to work to get back to being that Inter.”

One of the Beneamata’s summer targets, Paulo Dybala, and Mancini believes the Bianconeri have secured a real talent.

“If they get him, Juventus will have made a great purchase,” Mancini said.

“I think Dybala is a great player.”
