Ahead of tomorrow's Europa League Last 16 return leg against the German team, in which the Nerazzurri must reverse a 3-1 aggregate score, the former Sampdoria striker was asked about his personal, long-term plans.

“I'll be clear. Firstly, I'd have liked at least 5-6 more points [in the standings] than I've got.

“In my interview with CNN, one of my answers was transcribed differently. I said that the Premier League is a great championship and that I was happy there.

“I think that's normal. But what I want is to stay here and build a winning team.

“Reasons to believe in tomorrow's victory? Firstly, because every trophy won by Inter saw plenty of comebacks, some of them sensational.

“Secondly, because I believe that a night with no errors will happen to us too, eventually.

“And finally because that's what the players want: they want to give their supporters a night to remember.

“Tomorrow we'll have to play with intelligence, knowing that we can score at any moment.

“It would be best to do that right away, but scoring near the end of the game would give us some comfort because they'd have no time to come back.”

It was suggested that Mancini was too soft as a Coach, but he denied that.

“That's just not true. Sometimes I get angry if a player doesn't train properly, but that never happens here.

“Maybe that's why people are saying that. I think the team is doing a good job, they're all good players and turning this night into a victory will give us an extra push.”
