There has been ongoing tension between the Coach and the Nerazzurri all summer, with one year remaining on Mancio’s contract.

Amidst disagreements with new owners the Suning Group about his contract and the transfer strategy, there were fears he could walk away, fears which appear to have been realised this evening.

According to Sky, Corriere dello Sport, Gazzetta dello Sport and Mediaset, the Beneamata’s lawyers have met with representatives for Mancini, as they look to work out a ‘golden handshake’.

A compromise must be reached as the tactician doesn't want to resign, while his club don't want to pay the full remaining year on his contract.

The favourite to replace him on the San Siro bench would be former Ajax Coach Frank de Boer, with Gazzetta reporting that contact has already been made.

According to the newspaper, it was President Erick Thohir, who sold his shares to Suning, who convinced the Chinese investors to make a change on the bench.

Meanwhile, Tuttosport believes that the Suning Group has set aside €2m for a severance pay.
