Roberto Mancini is “happy” for his former Inter players, and believes Mario Balotelli can still turn his career around.

The Coach left the Nerazzurri by mutual consent this summer, with Frank de Boer replacing him on the bench.

Sunday’s Derby d’Italia saw De Boer’s side beat Juventus 2-1, and his predecessor has nothing but praise.

“Even now I have nothing to say, except that I’m happy they beat Juventus,” Mancini told il Resto del Carlino.

“Even now I have nothing to say, except that I’m happy they beat Juventus,” Mancini told il Resto del Carlino.

“I’m happy for the fans and the lads, who remain good players.”

Mancini is known for bringing through Mario Balotelli, then taking him to Manchester City, and he was asked about the striker’s move to Nice.

“Could he have gone to Bologna? Bologna is a place where they allow you to work, but you also have to bring your own qualities to the table.

“Mario has so many, and I hope he’ll do well at Nice as I’m sure he could have done in Bologna.

“He’s a great lad and a great player, it only depends on him because he’s still only 26.”

Finally, Mancio was asked about his next move.

“I’m resting and I’m on holiday,” Mancini explained.

“If something interesting comes along which inspires me then I’ll go, if not I’ll keep watching games. For now though I’m mainly thinking about relaxing.”
