Roberto Mancini was “disappointed” by Inter’s 0-0 draw with Chievo, but insisted his team did everything possible.

“We are disappointed, as we could’ve caught sixth place today. It remains open,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“Unfortunately against a side that defends with everyone behind the ball, if you don’t find a breakthrough, it becomes more difficult.

“We are disappointed not to have won, but not for everything else. We were imprecise, as we found the frame of the goal only four times, but had 24 shots on goal.

“Chievo closed up till the end, then ran into the spaces and the only thing we did wrong was not score a goal.

“In these games you need talented players to break the deadlock. We’ve got some of those players and gave it our best.

“Perhaps we could’ve been more intense at the beginning, but Chievo had 10 players in their own final third.”

Top scorer Mauro Icardi also had few opportunities to create chances today.

“I thought Icardi was a little below par today. He didn’t have much space and the defenders all crowded around him. Those around him should’ve been more precise with through balls for him, as it’s the only way to break the deadlock in these situations.

“I cannot complain… all the time.”

Mancini was asked if it was really worth it for Inter to fight for a preliminary round place in the Europa League.

“We’d need two squads – one for Serie A and one for the Europa League! It’s only a joke up to a point.

“The Europa League plays on Thursday and you have to make many changes. Rafa Benitez did that well and paid a bit of a price for it in Serie A, but this is necessary if you want to go all the way.”
