There are claims Milan’s hesitation over signing Adil Rami from Valencia could allow Manchester United to swoop.

The defender arrived at San Siro in January and has so far scored three goals in 13 Serie A games, becoming an important figure in the back four.

CEO Adriano Galliani confirmed the option to make the move permanent has already been set at €7m (approximately £5.8m), but that Milan were looking for “a discount.”

According to the Daily Mail and Spanish paper AS, Valencia do not appreciate this approach and are instead prepared to sell Rami for a higher price.

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to offer £10m – €12m – for the 28-year-old French defender, as he’d replace Nemanja Vidic, who has already signed for Inter next season.

They aren’t the only ones who want to pay full price for Rami, as Olympique Marseille are also interested according to France Football.

Meanwhile, Milan are eyeing Udinese centre-back Thomas Heurtaux as the heir to Rami’s role.
