Italian reports suggest Manchester City have offered a more lucrative deal to Jackson Martinez than Milan.

At first Valencia and Arsenal had seemed to be the main contenders for the Colombian international, who has a buy-out clause worth €35m at Porto.

However, on Thursday afternoon Sky Sport Italia claimed Manchester City had dived in with their own proposal.

The wages on offer would be considerably higher than the package presented by Milan.

Now it is up to the striker to decide between the various alternatives.

The Rossoneri remain confident and CEO Adriano Galliani has now left Portugal, where he outlined the Milan project personally.

A definitive answer is expected within 48 hours.

“It’s very hard to say exactly where we stand,” said agent Luiz Henrique Pompeo.

“Milan were here, and we talked to them, but we haven’t found a definitive agreement. It could come in a few days.

“Jackson is a top player, there are a lot of teams after him, not just Milan.

“Every opportunity is important for Jackson, because we respect everyone who wants to talk to us. Nothing is certain, though Milan is a huge club, everyone would like to play there.

“It’s not a money problem, it’s normal that in a deal like this there has to be time to reflect, to think, to decide.”
