After a controversial interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Boban was sacked from his position during his initial season back at Milan, and the rumours about Maldini’s future at Milanello surfaced in the media.

Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis has reportedly been in touch with Ralf Rangnick about a manager role at San Siro, where the German would be the coach, chief scout and director of sport. A complete sporting management role.

The newspaper claims Maldini has given his conditions to the Rossoneri and would want guarantees to have a decision-making role should he stay on, regarding both the transfer market and the coach’s position.

Gazidis reportedly values Maldini and has advocated for his employment in Casa Milan, but after struggling to work with former director Leonardo and seeing Boban disappear after a dispute with the board of directors, the former Italy international has allegedly decided to dictate his own conditions for staying at the club.

Maldini will continue to prepare in the event of a resumption, to complete the current season in the best possible way, but his future is yet to be decided.
