The Rossoneri lost the Derby della Madonnina to Inter last weekend, before being beaten at home by Real Betis in the Europa League.

Pressure is growing on Coach Gennaro Gattuso, and the Curva Sud declared the team should be ashamed of their performance in the derby.

“We played badly in the derby, it’s true,” Maldini said after visiting the Istituto dei Tumori in Venezia.

“I understand perfectly the huge disappointment about the Europa League match, but we go on with the confidence we had before these two defeats.

“We’re aware that we’re coming from sixth place and our objective is fourth, which is another significant improvement.

“Now we have two tight games against the Genoese sides at San Siro, and if we win those we’d be back in the Champions League picture.

“We’re also confident because Milan have played well in almost all their matches. In our league even the small teams can cause problems.

“Inter were superior in the derby, but against Parma they were unrecognisable.”
