Inter striker Romelu Lukaku will return to Chelsea in June, but according to Il Corriere dello Sport, the Blues do not want the Belgian forward and are open to discussing a new deal with the Serie A giants.

Beppe Marotta said last week that Lukaku would return to Chelsea at the end of the season, although the 29-year-old wants to stay at the Stadio Meazza.

“We’ll see if we want to negotiate a return to us,” said the Nerazzurri director.

Now, according to Il Corriere dello Sport, Chelsea do not want to keep Lukaku at Stamford Bridge in 2023-24, so they are open to negotiating a new deal with Inter. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Lukaku will surely return to the Stadio Meazza.

As Marotta said, the Nerazzurri will make their assessment at the end of the season, considering that the 29-year-old has been struggling with injuries this season, only scoring four goals in 15 appearances.

Lukaku failed to justify his €113m price tag at Chelsea in 2021-22, scoring only 15 goals in 44 appearances under Thomas Tuchel.

He returned to Inter on a dry loan deal worth €8m last summer and the Serie A giants do not have an option to make his move permanent.
