New Milan striker Luiz Adriano has spoken of the ‘great intensity’ of training sessions, while rubbishing claims that the number nine shirt is cursed.

The Brazilian arrived earlier this summer from Shakhtar Donetsk and believes that the Rossoneri will be back in the Champions League next season.

“The impact on arrival was great, we work with greater intensity than I did at Shakhtar,” Adriano told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“And my teammates are making my arrival easy for me, particularly the Brazilians Alex and Rodrigo Ely.

“Even members of the technical staff speak slowly, so I can understand. Berlusconi has given me confidence and peace. Not only to me but to the whole group.

“Why I chose Milan? I spoke with my wife, with my father, with [Mircea, Shakhtar Coach] Lucescu and Pato.

“I thought it was time to face this challenge. Milan have a great history, I want to be a part of it.

"I do not care about any curse. The number nine shirt has an incredible charm and it’s time for it to be scoring goals again

“There have been many Brazilians at Milan, but my point of reference is Shevchenko, who arrived with the Rossoneri from Kiev.

“After winning six championships in Ukraine want to succeed in Italy too. Of course I’ll miss playing in the Champions League. But I’ll play in it for Milan in a year’s time.

"For me Lucescu is a second father. The first year in Donetsk I struggled to adjust, I couldn’t bear the cold and loneliness.

“He spoke to me for a long time and calmed me. He had so much patience. Mihajlovic? ‘The professor’ is very strict and demanding. Like Lucescu.”
