“We are hungry to get started, to secure safety that would be so important and even historic for this club,” the defender told Sky Sport Italia.

“There are going to be many difficulties, because playing in Lecce in June and July is tough, but we trained hard and tried to prepare for the various issues we could encounter. Fortunately, it’s quite windy today, so there’s some fresh air.

“The first game is a bit of an unknown quantity. Milan played in the Coppa Italia last week, so they are at a more advanced stage of their comeback, but we will give it our all.”

Because Ibrahimovic is still injured, Rebic will lead the Rossoneri attack at the Stadio Via del Mare.

“Ibrahimovic is more of a static, physical player who does damage in the box, whereas with Rebic as their centre-forward, Milan will have more movement and be trickier to mark. We prepared for all eventualities.”
