Lucio could put pen to paper on a contract with champions Juventus on Tuesday after he was released by Inter.

The Brazilian stopper had his Nerazzurri contracted rescinded on Friday and, after strong links with Fenerbahce and Malaga, he’s set to move to Turin.

Juventus will pick up the centre-back, now 34, on a free transfer in a move which is being likened to their swoop for Andrea Pirlo last summer.

The Old Lady were looking for a new defender and Lucio is a cheaper option than Zenit’s Bruno Alves and Mats Hummels of Borussia Dortmund.

Lucio, signed by Inter in 2009 from Bayern Munich, will join fellow centre-backs Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Barzagli at the club.

The former Bayer Leverkusen man wants a two-year deal in Turin, but talks are still taking place regarding his salary.

Juventus are offering an agreement worth €2.2m which could rise depending on the activation of bonus clauses, while Lucio is looking for a basic salary closer to €3m.
