Lazio are no closer to selling Joaquin Correa, so President Claudio Lotito has until Friday morning to put €10m into the club coffers so he can register four players for the new season.

The Aquile have seen their transfer strategy under new coach Maurizio Sarri ruined by Correa, as his sale at €40m was meant to then fund the other incoming deals.

However, weeks after they signed the contracts and started training with the squad, Felipe Anderson, Elseid Hysaj and Luka Romero have still not been registered as Lazio players.

The same goes for Stefan Radu, who signed a new contract after his old one had expired.

This is due to the lack of liquidity and time is running out, with Radio Radio stating there is a deadline of 12.00 local time on Friday to get the money in and register these players for the Serie A opener against Empoli.

The radio station claims President Lotito will pump €10m into the club coffers, although it remains to be seen if this is an increase in capital or – more likely – a personal loan that he will get back as soon as Correa is sold.

Meanwhile, Dimitrije Kamenovic was also picked up from Cukaricki for €2.5m, but has not yet been registered for Lazio and probably won’t be this season.

The 21-year-old left-back is a non-EU player from Serbia and it’s reported Sarri is unconvinced, so he’ll be loaned out elsewhere instead.

That can allow Lazio to keep the non-EU slot for a first-choice target like Girondins de Bordeaux midfielder Toma Basic.

  1. It seems that Lazio financial condition is not better than Inter. This pandemic has affected most of clubs financial, the revenue declined significantly.
