The Derby della Capitale is next Monday, but Lazio President Claudio Lotito turned the screw by mocking Roma. “They are one of many teams.”

The Rome Derby has been moved to Monday evening because the Biancocelesti play Fenerbahce in the Europa League quarter-final on Thursday.

“We mustn’t think about Roma, as they are one of many teams,” shrugged President Lotito after a 2-1 win over Catania.

“Roma were created 27 years after Lazio and are in a very different position of the Serie A table. They didn’t take part in Europe this season and that favoured them.

“We were penalised by playing in three competitions, but they gave us prestige. We are in the Europa League quarter-finals, the Coppa Italia Final and there are several targets for us to aim for in the final rush.

“We hope that imponderable factors will not become negative for us, because the team showed quality and deserves something important.”

Despite Lotito’s tone, Lazio are only three points clear of Roma in the Serie A standings.
