Milan goalkeeper Diego Lopez says ‘performances are improving’, and the Rossoneri are still targeting the Europa League.

Filippo Inzaghi’s men played out a 0-0 draw with city rivals Inter in last night’s Derby della Madonnina, but the Spaniard doesn’t believe that spells the end of their European ambitions.

“We are doing better at the back,” Lopez assured Milan Channel.

“I think it is just the results that are missing. We’re improving in terms of our performances and our desire.

“The past two draws complicate our European hopes, but we have to keep trying. There are still 7 games to go and there are still lots of points up for grabs.

“We have to keep fighting right until the end for a European finish. Then, we will see what happens. We always play to win.”

The former Real Madrid man played last night’s match despite struggling with injury, and praises the efforts of both he medical staff and his teammates.

“I picked up an injury last week but I was still able to play.

“I have to thank the medical staff because they put me in a condition to play. We have close to a full squad available.

“I think that they did better in the final stage, but we could have won and it was a balanced match.

“The team did very well in defence. In the second half they created more chances as we were tired.”
