Catania chief Pietro Lo Monaco stated that Lopez was “virtually a Milan player” earlier today after terms were agreed.

However, Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani also noted that the club still wanted Manchester City’s Tevez – and that only one striker would arrive this month.

“We still have to wait for a bit more,” Andrea D’Amico told Sky Sport Italia on Monday afternoon. “The player is happy, even if we’ll have to see how the Tevez situation evolves.

“Will the move collapse if Carlitos arrives? You’ll have to ask Galliani even if he’s already responded on that.

“Maxi could certainly be of use with Alexandre Pato’s injury and the Champions League ineligibility of Tevez, but it will be Milan who decide.

“We are just at the disposal of the Rossoneri.”

Milan’s move for Tevez was thought to have been over after Pato refused to join Paris Saint-Germain. His transfer fee would then have been used to sign the Argentine.
