Sandro’s contract expires at the end of the coming season, with the suggestion that the Dragao would sell for a reduced price, rather than see him leave for free next summer.
However, OJogo claims Lopetegui is personally lobbying the club not to sell the defender, who he sees as a crucial element of his team.
That means the Old Lady would have to pay the 24-year-old’s €25m release clause if they wish to sign him this summer, something which is unlikely, given their pursuit of high-cost targets Mario Gotze and Julian Draxler.
