Sporting director Sergio Gasparin has reiterated that Francesco Lodi and Alejandro Gomez will be staying at Catania for the foreseeable future.

The duo were heavily linked with departures out of Sicily this summer, but instead both remained and were handed new contracts.

Speculation, however, remains in place, so following on from their notable performances against Lazio at the weekend, Gasparin has once more clarified the club’s position.

Speculation, however, remains in place, so following on from their notable performances against Lazio at the weekend, Gasparin has once more clarified the club’s position.

“In the summer we confirmed our important players, the two had their contracts renewed,” he told reporters today.

“We sent out an important signal of the assessment and consideration that the club has of these two men, even before they are players.

“We intend to hold on to them for a long time. Besides, there are still two months until January so it is early to be talking about the transfer market.”
