Lecce produced another fine display as they drew their third match in a row at Marassi, but the impact of the Greek midfielder Tachtidis was decisive, according to Liverani.
“I think we would have taken home the three points with 11 v 11 still on the field,” said the 43-year-old. “The team played with character on a tough ground to visit.”
Lecce were denied the three points in stoppage time when Gaston Ramirez equalised Gianluca Lapadula’s opener.
Liverani was not happy about the second yellow to his midfielder and is adamant it gave Sampdoria the lift they needed to hit back.
“The second yellow comes from a foul the referee doesn’t see. The linesman signalled and from a foul that he missed we get punished with a second yellow.
“I have seen a lot of tackles on Andrea Tabanelli which haven’t been sanctioned. We will take the result from this pitch and feel sorry that it ended up being a match that changed with the sending off, handing Sampdoria the advantage.”
