Marcello Lippi says he ‘still has the desire for football’ but refuses to talk about links to the Roma and Lazio jobs.

The former Azzurri CT and World Cup winner has been linked with both of the capital clubs’ benches recently, with Giallorossi boss Rudi Garcia and Aquile Coach Stefano Pioli under fire.

The 67-year-old has most recently been coaching in China with Guangzhou Evergrande, but is keen for a return to the Serie A scene.

“When I got back from China, I realised that it wasn’t that I didn’t have the desire for football anymore, but that I didn’t want to be far from home anymore,” he said to calciomercato.it.

“I still want to be in football and if a call comes then that’s good, otherwise it’s the same.

“Me in place of Garcia or Pioli? I refuse to talk about teams in which serious professionals are working and it doesn’t seem right to me to comment out of respect for my colleagues.”
