Marcelo Lippi believes that Juventus will have enough to win the Scudetto this season, but has been moved to praise an ‘extraordinary’ Roma.

The former Bianconeri boss is currently in charge of Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande, but is watching Serie A from afar.

“The Italian championship is a special one,” he told Tuttosport. “In the past decade or so, there’s been some incredible comebacks – including my Juve side in 2002.

“So I have a lot of admiration for Conte, who has kept the focus all this time.

“Roma are having an extraordinary season, but I think Juve will have enough to win the title. I can’t see them losing it from here.

“The Bianconeri look too motivated, too determined to flop from here.

“100 points? They don’t need to focus on that goal. To win the title with 100 points would be a beautiful thing, but I don’t think they need to focus on that.”

The ex-Italy Coach then commented on Juve’s chances of winning the Europa League, and how the Turin club can continue to grow.

“I think they can win it this season, and it would be great to have a European title back at the club after a long wait.

“For me, Juve have something more in technical terms over their rivals. And they’re playing the final at home, which will be a huge advantage – should they get there!

“The real breakthrough for this Juve side will be winning in Europe. They lack big wins against top European sides.

“So once they start doing that, who knows where they can go?

“Winning the Europa League would be a major achievement, but the Champions League is a whole different level, in terms of technical quality and psychologically.

“I believe that next year Juve could really challenge for the Champions League.”
