Fonseca makes his Serie A debut, but the only other new face is goalkeeper Pau Lopez, as Leonardo Spinazzola and Diego Perotti are injured, with Jordan Veretout and Javier Pastore not 100 per cent fit.

Kluivert therefore starts instead of Perotti with Under and Zaniolo to support Dzeko, fresh from signing his contract extension.

Genoa also have a new Coach, former Roma boss Aurelio Andreazzoli, who was at the club for 10 years mostly as an assistant and then caretaker manager for the Coppa Italia Final.

Marko Pajac and Kevin Agudelo are suspended, with Riccardo Saponara, Stefano Sturaro and Francesco Cassata injured.

Ex-Ajax star Lasse Schone controls the midfield with Lukas Lerager and Ivan Radovanovic, while Domenico Criscito has shaken off flu symptoms to start.

Roma: Pau Lopez; Florenzi, Fazio, Juan Jesus, Kolarov; Cristante, Pellegrini; Under, Zaniolo, Kluivert; Dzeko

Genoa: Radu; Romero, Zapata, Criscito; Ghiglione, Lerager, Schone, Radovanovic, Barreca; Kouame, Pinamonti
