The injury crisis is taking its toll on both sides, although the Giallorossi are still doing remarkably well, beating Shakhtar Donetsk 3-0 in the Europa League on Thursday.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan went off with a calf strain during that match and is out of action, along with Chris Smalling, Jordan Veretout, Juan Jesus and Nicolò Zaniolo.

El Shaarawy and Pedro therefore support Dzeko, who returns after a muscular problem.

Parma aren’t exactly in a better position, especially with midfielder Juraj Kucka suspended.

Gervinho won’t get to face his former club, as he is on the treatment table along with Riccardo Gagliolo, Andreas Cornelius, Roberto Inglese, Simone Iacoponi and Lautaro Valenti.

It allows January signing Pellè to get his first start in the Parma jersey, supported by Valentin Mihaila and Dennis Man.

Parma: Sepe; Conti, Osorio, Bani, Pezzella; Kurtic, Brugman, Hernani; Man; Pellè, Mihaila

Roma: Pau Lopez; Mancini, Ibanez, Kumbulla; Bruno Peres, Villar, Pellegrini, Spinazzola; Pedro, El Shaarawy; Dzeko
