The arch-rivals play one of their biggest derbies in years, as they are both fighting it out for a top three finish this season.

Simone Inzaghi has played many of these clashes as a striker and as Coach of the Primavera youth team, but it’s his first on the touchline of the big one.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Stefan de Vrij needed late fitness tests, as they were both carrying injuries, but only the Serbian midfielder starts.

The rest of the squad is essentially fully fit, including captain Lucas Biglia pulling the midfield strings behind hitmen Felipe Anderson, Ciro Immobile and Keita Balde Diao.

Federico Marchetti also returns in goal after missing the trip to Palermo with a calf injury.

Roma aren’t so lucky, as they miss Mohamed Salah, Leandro Paredes and Alessandro Florenzi on relatively long-term problems.

Stephan El Shaarawy is still not fully fit after a lay-off, so Luciano Spalletti opts to change system to a 3-4-2-1 with Diego Perotti and Radja Nainggolan supporting Capocannoniere Dzeko.

Bruno Peres and Emerson Palmieri take the wing-back roles.

Lazio haven’t won any of the last seven Serie A derbies against Roma, managing three draws and four defeats since a 3-2 thriller in November 2012.

They are on a run of four consecutive losses to their city rivals.

Of course, there was a 1-0 Coppa Italia Final triumph in May 2013.

Lazio are technically the home side today, but they have another advantage too. While Roma ultras continue to boycott the Stadio Olimpico over barriers, the Curva Nord have agreed to return for this game.

Lazio: Marchetti; Basta, Wallace, Radu, Lulic; Parolo, Biglia, Milinkovic-Savic; Felipe, Immobile, Keita

Roma: Szczesny; Manolas, Fazio, Rudiger; Peres, De Rossi, Strootman, Emerson; Nainggolan, Perotti; Dzeko
