Curiously, they will also go head-to-head on Tuesday in the Coppa Italia quarter-final, although that will be played at San Siro.

Milan haven’t won this fixture since a 2-1 result in November 2009, when Thiago Silva scored at both ends.

Pippo Inzaghi was playing at the time, but is now feeling the heat as a Coach after failing to win any of the three Serie A games in 2015.

Adil Rami is suspended and Keisuke Honda on Asian Cup duty, while Mattia De Sciglio, Nigel de Jong, Daniele Bonera and Cristian Zapata are injured.

Stephan El Shaarawy is surprisingly given the nod in the trident attack with Jeremy Menez and Giacomo Bonaventura, leaving new buy Alessio Cerci on the bench.

Lazio are forced to do without Felipe Anderson, Senad Lulic, Michael Ciani, Alvaro Gonzalez, Ederson, Santiago Gentiletti and Edson Braafheid.

Biglia is only fit enough for a spot on the bench after bruising his ankle in training, but Dutch defender De Vrij is given the all-clear to start despite suffering from plantar fasciitis.

Miroslav Klose is picked in the centre-forward role, though the big news is that Stefano Mauri returns, as he was sorely missed in the home defeat to Napoli.

There’s also a chance for 20-year-old Danilo Cataldi, who impressed in the Coppa, and goalkeeper Federico Marchetti is back from his ban.

Lazio have not beaten Milan, home or away, since a 3-2 result here in October 2012, followed by two 2-2 draws and two defeats.

The hosts unveil their new home strip tonight, a copy of the jersey that Lazio wore in 1986-87 when they managed to escape relegation into Serie C1 despite having a nine-point penalty in a match-fixing scandal.

Current President Claudio Lotito hopes it can help unite the fans behind the club and realise they must continue supporting them even when things aren’t going that well.
