The Nerazzurri have plummeted down the Serie A standings in recent weeks, despite being top of the table on December 9.

They’ve taken only four points from the last six rounds and crashed out of the Coppa Italia to neighbours Milan.

Coach Luciano Spalletti is forced into some big changes, as top scorer Icardi is out injured, so Eder is the only genuine alternative in the squad other than youth team player Andrea Pinamonti.

The Italo-Brazilian leads the way in a new 4-3-3 formation, flanked by Antonio Candreva and Ivan Perisic with Marcelo Brozovic in midfield.

Surprisingly, Danilo D’Ambrosio is shuffled over to the right and Dalbert given a rare start at left-back.

January buys Rafinha and Lisandro Lopez are both on the bench.

Crotone Coach Walter Zenga is no stranger to San Siro, as he was the Inter goalkeeper for most of his playing career.

He also made it clear on several occasions that he wanted the Nerazzurri job, though he was only ever mentioned just before Stefano Pioli was appointed last season.

The Squali have another familiar face, as goalkeeper Alex Cordaz came up through the Inter academy – and confessed he had a poster of Zenga growing up.

Mario Sampirisi and Marco Tumminello miss the trip, but Federico Ricci has been inspirational since making the January transfer from Genoa.

He helps support Marcello Trotta and Andrea Nalini, with fellow January arrivals Ahmad Benali and Marco Capuano in the starting XI.
