This is practically a play-off for Champions League football, as Atalanta are in fourth place, three points clear of tonight’s rivals.

La Dea are on sparkling form and have a full squad to choose from just days before their Champions League Round of 16 clash with Valencia.

That includes birthday boy Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez, who turns 32 today, Ilicic and Duvan Zapata, with Remo Freuler and Hans Hateboer getting the nod.

However, Roma are in a very different situation going into the Gewiss Stadium, as Javier Pastore, Nicolò Zaniolo, Amadou Diawara, Davide Zappacosta and Antonio Mirante are all out injured, with former Atalanta midfielder Bryan Cristante suspended.

That prompts Paulo Fonseca into a change of system, moving another ex-Atalanta player Gianluca Mancini from centre-back into midfield, a role he already played well earlier this season.

Rather than Jordan Veretout, he is partnered by Lorenzo Pellegrini.

Mkhitaryan therefore starts with Diego Perotti and Justin Kluivert to support Dzeko.

Cengiz Under disappointed lately, while Carles Perez is not considered ready to start, but Bruno Peres gets a rare nod rather than Davide Santon at right-back.

If two sides finish level on points, they are separated first by head-to-head record, then eventually goal difference. Atalanta won 2-0 away to Roma back in Week 5, with Duvan Zapata and Marten de Roon on target.

Atalanta have lost only one of their last 10 Serie A meetings with Roma, winning four and drawing five. However, the Giallorossi have just one defeat in their last seven visits to Bergamo.
