Former Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta says he’d have whistled Gianluigi Donnarumma if he’d been in the stands for Milan’s Coppa Italia game with Verona.
Amidst rumours over his future, the young goalkeeper was whistled as his name was read out at San Siro, with some fans unveiling a banner insulting him.
The 18-year-old was visibly upset, and had to be consoled by Leonardo Bonucci, but former PM Letta doesn’t have much sympathy.

“I’m sorry to say it, but if I were in the Curva at San Siro tonight, I’d whistle Donnarumma,” he wrote on Twitter.
Letta was Prime Minister from April 2013 to February 2014, resigning from the office after increasing divisions in his grand coalition.
