Whispers suggest that Leonardo, who bossed city rivals Milan last term, will sign a contract until June 2012.

As part of that agreement, which will see him net around €2.5m a campaign, there will be the option of a one-year extension until 2013.

Leonardo won't be the only fresh face at Appiano Gentile in the New Year, with a number of players expected to be brought in too.

Genoa defender Andrea Ranocchia, who the club already co-own, will be acquired to replace the injured Walter Samuel.

Real Madrid's Kaka, who Leonardo helped Milan to sign in the past, is another possible option for the new world champions.

There are even some suggestions that Inter would like to announce the arrivals of Leonardo and Kaka simultaneously for maximum impact.
