Celtic manager Neil Lennon believed they “were the better team” against Milan at San Siro, despite the 2-0 defeat.
“I’m very disappointed because for long periods of the game we were the better team,” he said in a Press conference.
“So to come away from San Siro without a point or even three points is a mark of how well we’ve developed and played tonight.

“You have to take your chances when you’re on top. Unfortunately we didn’t get the break of the ball tonight and Milan did with that deflection.”
Cristian Zapata’s shot was credited as an Emilio Izaguirre own goal, while Sulley Muntari turned in the rebound from a Mario Balotelli free kick.
“I think the scoreline flatters Milan tonight. I don’t think there’s two goals between the teams tonight. We dominated Milan for 20 minutes in the second half and the last 10 minutes of the first half.
“Apart from the Muntari chance, the goalkeeper had nothing to do in the second half and we frustrated them to long range shots over the bar. We played really good football and had good chances tonight, so that’ll be the one regret coming away.
“I don’t know why anyone is so surprised, because we made the last 16 last year and that wasn’t a fluke. We were in good spirits coming into the game and fancied we could get some kind of result here.
“Sometimes in football you prefer to play badly and get the result, but the performance was of a very high standard tonight.
“We’re a bit sore at the minute. We didn’t hang on, rely on the goalkeeper to make save after save or see wave after wave of pressure from Milan.
“We took the game to them and I think we surprised a lot of people tonight with the standard of performance. I felt at times we were the better team playing the better football.”
